For fifteen years, I've owned a log cabin on Piedmont lake, and, for all those years, I've been fighting bats, inside and out, who literally hit every vertical surface with urine and every horizontal with guano. Every year, I tried a new tactic, and, usually, I had some degree of success for a period of time. I finally figured out that the bats inside the house were getting in through my chimney. So every year, in order to keep them out, I went through an elaborate and time-consuming process to block off the two fireplaces before the bats returned in the spring, and then I could only build a fire when it was really cold enough to be sure they were gone for the winter. They also infested my screened porch. It became my habit to go inside and close the door leading to the porch before dusk. Otherwise, I'd have to sit while being swooped by the bats as well as enduring a number of other unpleasant experiences. My co-owner tried to close every possible entry point, and, instead of successfully getting rid of them was rewarded with a life-flight to the hospital after falling off the ladder. This summer, when I arrived at the cabin, I found both the screened and front porches literally covered in guano. It took considerable time to dean up the mess. As soon as I was done, I began searching for someone to help. Just as my struggle with the bats became too much, I found Steve Shaffer online and wrote him an email. I got an immediate automated answer and then a personal answer in the same day. We made an appointment to meet at the cabin, and Steve arrived punctually. He looked around the outside of the cabin and said, "I think I can do this for you." The feeling of relief upon hearing those words was amazing, and I believed him. Over the summer months, Steve worked to discover and block every possible place my bats could be living. First he gradually "trained" them to use a smaller and smaller area to enter and exit. After all the babies were old enough to fly and feed independently, he used a method to let them out but keep them from getting back in. Without harming any bats, he successfully rid my house of my unwelcome inhabitants. Now I can sit on my screened porch and listen to the night sounds without worrying. I can get up in the morning and discover no guano and urine covering my windows, chairs and table. When I step out the front door, I have to search for guano and find only the tiniest bit from the occasional bat who flies by in the course of the night. After fifteen years of battle, I'm actually free, and I no longer have to spend time plugging up my fireplaces. I have hired many people for various jobs at my cabin, but I have never had anyone who was as respectful, efficient and concerned a Steve. His work is thorough and guaranteed. I have heard people say this process couldn't work, but I tried it, and I know it works since Steve doesn't stop until the job is done. So, thanks for your help. We had been dealing with squirrels in our attic for several years. Squirrels running around the attic were waking us at all hours of the night and day. A All Animal Control of Fort Collins informed us about the hazards of having this problem and we were ready to begin the removal and preventative measures. Once the problem was resolved, we were happy to finally be able to sleep soundly knowing the noise was gone and our family was safer because of the squirrels being removed. I own and operate a Ham radio shop that had a squirrel in my warehouse. My landlord inspected the property and stated the squirrel must have been let in. My landlord reported there were no entry points for a squirrel and refused to pay for an inspection. I decided to call A All Animal Control of Fort Collins to inspect the warehouse and paid out of my own pocket. During the A All Animal Control inspection, three noticeable squirrel entry points were tracked, with two of them showing signs of entry. The squirrel was caught on the first day with continued tracking for the remainder of the week. The repairs were made and I was completely satisfied. I would call A All Animal Control again if the need arose and was impressed with the thoroughness and professionalism that came with the job. I want to send a thank you. My son it the person who had the 5 foot snake in his ceiling I want to say Jason did a great job keeping him informed on what was happening and how to keep this from happening again. We had a raccoon in our attic; so we set a live trap at the back of our apt. But--Oooops, what did we catch? A cat was what we had expected -- but no- it was a country kitty. The Squirrel went into the trap Saturday afternoon-- When I found him caged it was late-- called @9:00 p.m. Saturday and 1st thing Sunday (Mom Day) they were out to pick him up-- and relocate there are still traps on my roof in case there are others involved I don't know the procedure from here, but I think the traps will remain for a short time and then they will close the hole- after that I think we need to fix the siding but unsure Thanks again--it is so nice to not hear the pitter patter of little feet in my attic.
